Free concert! Mother’s Day Sound Healing session
SUNDAY, MAY 8th at 1 PM
Free concert! Relax outdoors on Mother’s Day with Modern Marimba featuring Ed Russell and Tihda Vongkoth.

Ed Russell (he/him) has played musical instruments since childhood. Beginning in 2009, his love of sound carried him to work with singing bowls and gongs. Because of his studies in energy practices and as a Reiki master, he is attuned to subtle energies and sound frequencies. Playing from the heart and with intention is the foundation of his work. His sessions prove particularly beneficial in allowing people to respond to their own inner rhythms. Other healing modalities he has been trained on include “Reconnective Healing” with Eric Pearl, “Matrix Energetic” with Richard Barrett, “Flower of Life” Workshop with Dr. Richard LeBeau PhD, and more.
Tihda Vongkoth (she/her) is a co-founder and organizer at Modern Marimba. She is a freelance percussionist with various arts organizations in Sarasota and all over Florida. Tihda has appeared as a marimba soloist with the United States Air Force Band, The Florida Orchestra, and the Interlochen Arts Academy Orchestra. As a percussionist she has performed at the Sambadrome Marquês de Sapucaí (parading on caixa with Grêmio Recreativo Escola de Samba Unidos de Vila Isabel), the Smithsonian Folklife Festival, Aspen Music Festival, Breckenridge Music Festival, Eastern Music Festival and Brevard Music Festival. She recently recorded marimba on ‘Arise – Choral Music of Ola Gjeilo’ with the Key Chorale of Sarasota and appears on ‘Symphony No. 1’ by Thomas Sleeper on Albany Records.
Newtown Farmer’s Market features Modern Marimba performing healing music in celebration of their We Are One multicultural event. This beautiful outdoor setting is located at Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Park in Sarasota.
